The Carnelian Gua Sha

One-of-a-kind Gua Sha carved from carnelian, a stone known to target the lower three chakras. A stabilizing crystal, carnelian restores vitality, motivation, and creativity. It inspires courage, promotes positive life choices, dispels apathy, and encourages success.

Shapes:

  • Fish: Smaller, ideal for knuckles, joints, and small areas.

  • Fan: Larger, perfect for covering more surface area.

"My healthy cord cutting knife...for when life gets under my skin." – DeAnna Batdorff

刮痧 The Chinese Gua Sha

  • Gua = “to scrape”

  • Sha = “let out toxins”

रक्त मोक्षण Rakta Mokshana = “liberation of old blood”

Ayurveda has long used this scraping technique to remove toxins from tissues. This tool is made from a hard material with an edge that can penetrate tissue layers, activating the lymphatic flow and stimulating blood circulation.

Benefits:

  • Smooths circulation across skin layers

  • Breaks up cellulite

  • Releases lactic acid in muscles

  • Breaks down scar tissue (use with castor oil)

  • Tonifies nerves along meridian lines

  • Supports lymphatic drainage

  • Builds circulation and blood flow to the heart

  • Pain relief

How to Use:

  • Use with body oil to drive nutrients into tissues.

  • Can be used in the shower, tub, sauna/steam room, or over clothes.

  • Press the edge into the skin until you feel the muscle layer, then vigorously rub back and forth until a blood glow appears—this indicates the technique is working.

  • Bruising may occur as toxins are released; over time, bruising will decrease as tissues re-tonify.

  • Focus on one area at a time, letting bruised areas rest before returning.

"Remember, pain is a symptom — your body is asking for support. You can Gua Sha yourself out of pain." – DeAnna Batdorff

Care Routines:

  • Weekly: Full-body Gua Sha (~40 minutes). Focus on the most painful or weak areas.

  • Daily: Targeted area Gua Sha (~15 minutes). Can be done while watching a movie, texting, or with a friend.

Once you pick one up and use it, you won’t want to put it down!
