Ayurvedic Clinical Foundations

Ayurvedic Clinical Foundations is the keystone course at dhyana Essentials, offering the classical groundwork required to enter deeper study and clinical practice within this lineage.

Rooted in traditional Ayurvedic principles, this course establishes a comprehensive foundation in diagnostics through the study of pulse, skin, tongue, and structural assessment—each revealing the body’s inner and outer terrain, digestive pathways, microbial activity, and patterns of imbalance.

Emphasis is placed on refined observation, symptom tracking, and the development of clinical discernment to then move into our advanced course : Sacred Pathology.

Students are introduced to the assessment tools of elemental medicine while engaging in hands-on practice and peer-based learning. As the threshold into the dhyana Essentials educational path, this course anchors students in clarity, continuity, and respect for the classical tradition.

The science and art of reading the body. Learn to assess health by reading the face, tongue, and pulse.

Ayurvedic Pulse Assessment: By feeling the quality of a person's pulse, we can assess the dynamic equilibrium of each of their tissues, organs, and organ systems. This subtle practice grounded in thousands of years of Ayurvedic science provides profound insight.

Face and Tongue Analysis: We have nerve endings for all our organs in our face and tongues. What you see is what you get. By reading the shape and qualities of the face and tongue we can literally see the expressions of someone's health.

Elemental Remedies

Understand the body through the five elements: Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth and the four qualities of Cold, Dry, Hot, and Wet.

Demystify the Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Understand the gifts and challenges of each Dosha and what each person needs based on their unique prakruti (birth constitution) and their vikruti (present day health).

Uncover the driving forces of dis-ease states and how to use simple everyday remedies to restore balance to the body. Come away with elemental remedies to support your wellbeing, vitality, and sovereignty.

Experiential Learning

Apply an elemental framework to touch based diagnostics. Feel health in your finger tips and learn how to provide attentive and therapeutic touch.

Understand how to palpate and assess tissues, especially through the lens of the lymphatic system. Discover how inflammation, stagnation, and depletion feel in the tissues.

Together we will be mapping the body. Investigating our tissues with love, care, and curiosity. Uncovering lumps, bumps and pain without judgement, and finding solutions that work for us.
